Be like Romeo…
I answer e-mails from men every single day…
A LOT of them come from skinny guys who have never hit the gym and don’t want to, but they want to “pack on size and “get bigger”…
“What can I do from home?”
“If I’m going buy some gym equipment for my house so I don’t have to go to the gym, what should I get Spence?”
“Can I get second hand stuff or does it have to be new?”
“Would resistance bands work if I buy different colours?”
We dive deeper, and eventually we learn that it all comes from low confidence, worrying what others will think, worrying you’ll get judged…
Client’s from all over the World approach me but one that stood out was Romeo from Warwickshire.
Romeo wasn’t skinny however, he was large.
21 stone large.
His self esteem was at an all time low. He needed that boost in mindset and motivation… incoming SLF.
He started on a 4 weekly home workout plan.
Phase II – we started to use the new multi-gym he purchased with a TAX return.
Phase III – progress started to slow; we needed a new stimulus – we needed to get into a real gym environment.
With likely minded people.
Surrounded by motivation.
Various equipment available.
24 hour access.
Phase III – Week 3 – Begins, Romeo steps foot in the local PureGym (his first gym) for the FIRST time in his life.
He followed his workout plan down to a tee. I supported him throughout the workout via What’s App and my SLF app.
Completed and processed the workout. Done and dusted…
I gave him a call whilst sitting in his car on the carpark, midst sipping his protein shake.
“So how did it go? Did you feel any pressure from those around you? Did any PT’s approach you?” – Poachers *cocks the shotgun*
He stopped his heavy breathing, swallowed. Breathed a sigh of relief and said:
“To be honest Spence, I didn’t notice…”
He was focused, he had something to do… complete his task. Achieve. WIN.
He didn’t even notice potentially prying eyes, comments, others hogging machines, Jessica’s perfectly sculpted gluteals in those naughty two tone GymShark leggings…
Yeah you know the ones. He just did what he had to do…
So if right now if you’re one of those guys who doesn’t wanna hit the gym because you’re worried about what the other men in there might think, just remember 3 things:
1. From right now you’re the Bushmaster of your own life, so you don’t give a fu** what those strangers think.
(Been watching a lot of Luke Cage okay?!)
2. No one is judging you, it’s all in your head.
3. Even if they are, you should have the focus, concentration and purpose of Romeo and not even notice…
