Action trumps waiting all day…
Around 6 months ago I was sat in Nandos with my friend John. He is in the RAF, currently serving in a specialised unit.
He was asking me how business was going.
At the time I was making good money, but I was training everyone. Coaching men and women how to transform their bodies.
I said it’s good, but what I really want to do is stop coaching women and men who are not on the same page as me.
I just want to build a tribe of like minded men and given them insane value. That’s my passion, that’s what I love, and I can show them everything I have learnt through changing my own life
I said “soon, I’m gunna do it”
“The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now”
I transformed my business the very next day, implementing what I had been gathering up and what happened? It exploded.
Doing what I loved and helping men just like me who valued strength, muscle, courage and manliness was the single best decision I have ever made.
I was and still am so aligned with my business that everything grew larger then I could have possibly imagined.
Why was I so insistent on waiting? What was I waiting for?
The truth was, I had a good business, and I was scared of changing, following my passion, and failing.
Every choice I’ve ever had where I’ve ended up ‘waiting for the right time’, I make it and then I’m pissed off that I didn’t make the choice earlier. One of which was becoming a Personal Trainer in the first instance. Although I am blessed to have met everybody I did in my previous employment.
Waiting for the right time, or ‘thinking about it’ is a common human trait.
It’s designed to protect us. Our brains are heard wired to be cautious and avoid failure, and regrettably the avoidance of failing commonly turns into the avoidance of trying.
“It is not necessary for a man to be actively bad in order to make a failure in life; simple inaction will accomplish it. Nature has everywhere written her protest against idleness; everywhere which ceases to struggle, which remains inactive, rapidly deteriorates. It is the struggle toward an idea, the constant effort to get higher and further, which develops manhood and character.”
– James Terry White
